Gamification Activity

 The gamification of learning is an educational approach that seeks to motivate students by using video game design and game elements in learning environments.

Examples: Bingo, Treasure hunt, Jeapordy, Escape room and more.

I watched a webinar about gamification( link is above). In this webinar the presenter

presented many games in order to teach teachers how they can prepare games for

their classrooms. First game called world cup game, this game asking questions about world cup and

rules of football the teacher divides the class into groups, and each group represent

a team, then she start the game, if they know the correct answer they have a goalif no they will have red card, and the team who get more goal they win.

The second game is nearpod, the students join the game, and each one can choose

a character, then the teacher starts showing questions, they have a certain time to

answer them. The teacher can check their performance and he can pause the game.

The third game is the escape room . The students should ask the questions to

escape from the room and they cannot pass until they answer it correctly. The

teacher can choose the theme and template. Moreover, teachers can put an image

containing clues and these clues based on what the teacher wants students to know

and discover. Gamification is a very interesting method that each teacher can use to engage

students, make them motivated, and make the lesson enjoyable. We can use these

tools for evaluation and make students respect the time for doing tasks, and submit

on time. Moreover, these games help teachers in recapping all information or to

summarize a lesson. but there are some negative things which is the time, each gameneeds more than one hour to be prepared, and another problem is the internet.

Your opinion about integrating technology into teaching

 Today's students are learning in a way that is very different from how our educational system was originally designed because the learning environment is more dynamic than ever. Classrooms are being redesigned and redefined in a variety of ways to meet the changing requirements of contemporary digital learners as a result of technological advancement and the rise of remote learning.

In an effort to keep up with their digital learning population, many higher education institutions are replacing traditional resources with educational technologies as a result of the adoption of remote learning. The following is a list of ways that adopting a student strategy that makes smart use of technology in the classroom can increase student engagement and success rates.

• Enables students to connect with the real world:

Students are taken on a virtual tour of Grand Canyon National Park by a professor of geology. Students are led through the White House's history and corridors by a history instructor. Students are given a means of connecting the curriculum with the real world and those areas of academic focus through technology, which removes the physical barriers of the classroom and can truly enhance the student experience.

• Teaches students how to work:

Students need to know more than just how to use certain technological tools, like electronic calendars, interacting with web pages, teleconferencing, and electronic whiteboards, to succeed in the workplace of the 21st century. Institutions are making sure that their students are better prepared for the modern office by incorporating these technologies into the regular curriculum and ongoing activities.

There are a lot of educational tools with a variety of features that encourage teamwork. Students can easily hold virtual meetings with classmates from anywhere in the world using video conferencing tools like Zoom and Skype, for example. Students can easily share and edit projects with one another using free online storage services like Google Drive, which helps to improve overall collaboration in the academic and professional worlds.

We can't be too careful these days because of cyberbullying and online predators, and we need to pay special attention to one another.

A teaching/learning experience i will not forget

The memory that I cannot forget is the first year of my educational career. It was one of the most difficult years.  I was a fresh graduate and started teaching directly in a private school, and I was not used to waking up early, entering the classroom, discussing with students about life and school matters, and explaining the lesson more than once so that everyone could understand.  What made it more difficult was the preparation for the lessons and the development of the study plan, in addition to the questions related to the lesson, the preparation of the exams, and the daily follow-up of the students. The most difficult thing was when correcting the exams and the fear that all your effort and explanation would be in vain and they would not benefit from me.  But I was happy when I saw them applying what we studied and succeeding with superior grades.  It was a tough year for me but we got through it.

1.  What kind of skills i am learning in this course?

• How i can benefit from technology in my teaching process and integrate it with my lessons for more engagement.
• More professional tools we can use it (google slides, doc, sites...), to enhance and facilitate our learning in a modern way.
• Stop using papers and books, and depends more on the digital instruments and appliances.

       2. What do I find useful in this course?

• For me as a teacher, using google apps such as google slides and docs..., improve my teaching and facilitate it. Students can understand me more and in easy way.
• Using technology in schools are something new and grab student's attention, so by these apps or technology, students will be more focusing and paying attention to the teacher.
• This course develop a new techniques to introduce the concept of the lesson in an easy way, and as games that  i can control it.

       3. What I wish was different in this course?

• I wish if there was more time to see and practice more applications or tools, that could provide our experience with more knowledge.
• More practical projects, to enhance our work, and be more familiar with this tools.
